Bengaluru: In Southeast Bengaluru, at Neeladri Layout near Electronics city, a 30-year-old software engineer was found dead, hanging from the ceiling of his paying guest accommodation. Burden of loan is said to be the cause of the extreme step.

The deceased’s name is K Settu Kumar, a native of Chennai and an employee in a leading IT firm in Electronics City.

The police quoted the father of the victim, Kumar, as stating that his son took this extreme step because he was debt-ridden with at least Rs 1.5 Lakh. The police, after investigating, stated that Settu’s salary was Rs 70,000 monthly and it would be hard to imagine that he would end his life for just Rs 1.5 Lakh. They also stated that they had found six credit cards in his wallet which could verify him as an avid spender and that they had not found any suicide note as of now.

He was discovered hanging by his friends who had returned from work at 7:30 PM after they noticed that the door was locked. When they peeped into the house, they saw Settu hanging.

The body was shifted to St. John’s Medical College Hospital. The victim’s parents were called over the phone around 2 PM on Monday.
