Bengaluru: The JP Nagar on Friday nabbed a 32-year-old Nigerian national who was allegedly selling cocaine through WhatsApp calls and messages. The police recovered 6.5 gms of cocaine, worth Rs. 40,000, from him.

Initial investigations revealed that the accused, Achunike C. Nwafor, used to get cocaine consignment from his contact in Mumbai and alert his customers through WhatsApp. Based on a tip-off, the J.P. Nagar police, posing as clients contacted him, gained his trust and placed an order.

A team of policemen in plainclothes caught him red-handed. His associate Syed Hafeez, 27, from Kalasipalya was also arrested.

Achunike had allegedly forged travel documents, which he used to procure a SIM card. “Using the SIM card he communicated his contacts and clients only through WhatsApp to avoid police surveillance,” the officer added.
