Bengaluru: The City Police Commissioner has restricted any kind of public procession on Friday to prevent any untoward incidents during Tipu Jayanti celebrations.
Police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar said a circular has been issued restricting all kinds of public processions on Friday to make Tipu Jayanti peaceful.
“All security arrangements will be made to maintain law and order in the city. Thirteen thousand policemen will be deployed along with Garuda Force, 30 Karnataka State Reserve Police and 20 City Armed Reserve platoons in sensitive and hypersensitive areas,’’ the Police Commissioner said.
He said Tipu Jayanti should be celebrated indoors. “If people try to go on processions on roads, stringent action will be taken against the organisers. A place is also provided for people who oppose Tipu Jayanti and they should protest only there. If they protest in other places, the police will take action against them too,” he said.
He added that preventive detention would continue till Thursday night and directions had been issued to the jurisdictional police to take history-sheeters into custody.
