Tower Trouble: Bengaluru’s Bizarre Road Obstacle Sparks Outrage and Memes
A video showing a massive high-tension (HT) transmission tower standing squarely in the middle of a road near Hebbal has taken social media by storm. Posted by a city resident with the caption, “Allow me to introduce you to this masterpiece in Bangalore,” the clip has amused and stunned netizens alike, with many calling it a symbol of Bengaluru’s chaotic urban planning.
In the video, a two-wheeler rider is seen carefully navigating around the imposing structure, which completely blocks the path. The footage quickly went viral, drawing sharp criticism and a flurry of memes. One user dubbed it the “Eiffel Tower of Bangalore”, while others sarcastically questioned if the road or the tower came first.
Some netizens highlighted similar instances in other parts of India, while a local familiar with the area explained that the location is Hebbal Kempapura. According to the user, the HT line supplies power to the Sahakarnagar substation, and the road was laid around existing infrastructure. They noted that underground cabling work is in progress, which may eventually lead to the tower’s removal.
Despite the humour, the video has reignited debates over Bengaluru’s poor infrastructure coordination, pointing to either bureaucratic mismanagement or sheer oversight. Authorities have not yet commented on the issue, but citizens are demanding clarity and long-term planning to avoid such hazards.
