Traffice rule violation: Rs 2.35 cr fine collected in city in six days

traffic M 4102020Bengaluru: Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, the city traffic police launched a special drive against traffic rule offenders.

In just six days time-between September 20-26, they collected Rs. 2.35 crores in the form of fine.

A highest number of people were booked for not wearing helmets and the penalty amount collected stands at Rs 68.38 lakhs.

This is followed by signal jumps, for which Rs.21.39 lakhs penalty amoungt has been collected.

According to BR Ravikanthegowda, additional commissioner (traffic) over 55,000 cases have been registered in this period for violating various traffic rules.

According to the police, they had temporarily stopped fine collection due to Covid-19 pandemic. However, now they have restarted as vehicle movement on the road has increased substantially.
