Tumakuru: A teacher has been accused of helping her son in the Central government’s Navodaya School PSI CET entrance exam at Tiptur.
Deputy Commissioner Y. S. Patil on Saturday April 30 has ordered a probe by the Deputy Director of Public Instruction, as the teacher was the invigilator of the exam hall where her son took the test for admission to Class VI at the Central government-run boarding school. The investigation was ordered following complaints from parents of other students who took the exam.
The student’s mother, Padmavathi, was an invigilator at the examination centre set up at Government Girls High School, where his grandfather, Channe Gowda, was the examination Chief. Umesh Gowda, his father, was the examination Chief at Government Boys’ High School in the area. Beena, the Principal of Navodaya School in Tumakuru, clarified that relatives of children who took the test are not permitted to work at the centres since they must provide undertaking letters to that effect.
“It is an offence if the accused instructor was the invigilator of the examination centre where her son took the entrance exam,” she said.
