Tahsildar booked for threatening people from ST community

Tumakuru: Police booked a case  against Chikkanayakanalli Taluk Tahsildar Tejaswini on charges of threatening Scheduled Tribe (ST) people.

It is said that few gypsy community people staying in Kediganahalli of Chikkanayakanahalli Taluk were affected by heavy rains during last December. Their houses gor completely submerged. The Taluk Administration shifted them to Sthree Shakthi Bhavan where a makeshift Ganji kendra (food and shelter centre) was opened.

After situation came to normal, the administration told gypsy people to go back to their homes. But the people refused to vacate and urged to provide basic amenities to their colony.

It is said that the Tahsildar Tejaswaini along with staff came to Ganji kendra and allegedly threatened them and even told that she would withhold facilities of government if they do not vacate. A social worker filed a complaint against Tahsildar in this regard.
