Tumakuru: As many as 9 labourers died on the spot while 13 sustained injuries when a truck hit a tempo near Balenahalli gate in Kallamballa Taluk of the District in the early hours of Thursday August 25.
The labourers from various parts of Raichur were travelling in the tempo in search of jobs. They are from Manvi and Siravara in the Raichur District.
The accident happened when the cruiser tried to overtake a vehicle and it hit a lorry.
Three women, four men and two children died on the spot. Their identities are yet to be ascertained as they were travelling without any documents.
According to police, the injured are undergoing treatment at the Tumakuru District hospital where the condition of four is stated to be critical.
Two sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Bengaluru for treatment, informed police.
