Tumakuru: Delay in arrival of ambulance, woman dies

Tumakuru: A woman, who was seriously injured after an auto-rickshaw overturned near Theriyoor in Madhugiri Taluk of the District on night of Tuesday November 29 succumbed to her injuries.

Four persons, including two children, were on their way to Kodigenahalli from Hindupura in Andhra Pradesh on the night of Tuesday when the auto overturned near Theriyoor in Madhugiri Taluk. Leelavathi (24), who was in the auto, was seriously injured. Leelavathi, who sustained serious injuries, was brought to Kodigenahalli Primary Health Centre. Leelavathi, who was in a critical condition, had to be shifted to a private hospital in Bengaluru. However, as the ambulance could not be found at the hospital on time, she was shifted to a Bengaluru Hospital for further treatment with the help of locals. However, Leelavathi did not respond to treatment and died.

The relatives of the deceased woman staged a protest in front of the hospital alleging that the incident took place due to lack of proper doctors and an ambulance at the hospital. The incident took place under Kodigenahalli Police Station limits.
