Tumakuru: Former Deputy Chief Minister and MLA Dr. G. Parameshwara said that it is unfortunate that farmers in India are not able to improve their standard of living even though they are increasing the GDP by giving 25 per cent of the country’s economy.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Krishi Sangama programme organised by Bangalore Agricultural University at Kamenahalli Village in Holavanahalli Hobli of the Taluk. “Farmers are now producing 5 times more food than the previous acre-wise crop even though the population is increasing in the country, he said.
He added, “The food shortage is very low. This is being made possible by the achievements of our agricultural scientists and the hard work of farmers.”
