Tumakuru: Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said that the State Government is thinking of increasing the age limit for appointment of constables by two years in police recruitment.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday November 1 participating in the Kannada Rajyotsava programme in the City, he said, “There has been a lot of pressure to increase the upper age limit in police recruitment. My hope is that there should be youth power in the Police Department. But the pressures are increasing,” he said. Due to pressures, the recruitment process has been postponed for a month. The Government verified to increase the upper age limit by two years. He said that a decision will be taken soon.
Hundreds of youth who are police constable aspirants from various parts of the State including Kalyana Karnataka fell at Minister Araga Jnanendra’s feet and tearfully asked him to relax the age limit. The youth said that due to Covid and other reasons, police recruitment has not been done. Now the recruitment processes have started and if the age limit is not relaxed, hundreds of youth could not get the opportunity to join the police force. The young men and women begged to be allowed at least once. The Police stopped the youth from going to the Minister who was watching the cultural programme at the Kannada Rajyotsava event. Police also used a light baton when hundreds of aspirants rushed towards the Minister to submit a memorandum. Later they met the Minister and submitted a plea.
