Tumakuru: As part of the Republic Day celebrations, the National Flag was hoisted in front of the Town Panchayat Office on the morning of Thursday January 26.

As per the rules, the Town Panchayat Chief Officer, who was supposed to lower the National Flag respectfully before sunset, insulted the National Flag by not lowering it even after 7.30 pm, it is alleged.

Taking note of this, the public took strong objection and demanded that a sedition case be registered against the erring officials.

Reacting to the incident, Town Panchayat President G. N. Annappaswamy said that the officials have shown dereliction of duty by not lowering the National Flag before sunset.
