Tumakuru: At Tumkur University’s 14th convocation on March 5, 2021, I.S Prasad will be awarded an honorary doctorate for his contributions to social service.
I.S Prasad, who is the executive chairman of the Kidwai Cancer Drug Foundation, has saved about Rs.36 crore medical costs by treating cancer patients at concessional rates. He donated 1.12 crore to set up a blood bank in the Kidwai institution.
As an honorary secretary, West Trust of Lion’s Club of Bengaluru has been responsible for the establishment of several ophthalmology hospitals in Bangalore and has performed over 1.50 lakh extra eye surgeries through the trust. The services have been extended to the rural areas of Holenarasipura, Kollegala, and Dommasandra.
The International Bank of India has so far performed over 30,000 ophthalmic procedures and 7000 coronary transplant treatments.
Prasad, who was the president of the Karnataka Arya Vysya Charitable Trust, said that during his tenure, about 11,000 students were paid scholarships of Rs. 8.50 crore.
Prasad is the Senior Vice President of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI). For the last four decades, he has been working as Charted Accountant in Bengaluru.
He has served in various community services including Kidwai Cancer Drug Foundation, Karnataka state Chartered Accountants Association, ICAI New Delhi, Lion’s Club, Karnataka Arya Vysya Charitable Trust, Vasavi Vidyaniketan Trust, etc.
