Tumkuru: DSS protest against sexual assault on women wrestlers

Tumakuru: The office-bearers and members of the Taluk unit of Dalitha Sangharsh Samiti staged a protest demanding legal action against Wrestling Federation president Brij Bhushan Singh for sexually exploiting women Wrestlers.

The committee members, who reached the taluk office from the tourist temple in Gubbi town, staged a protest in front of the office for some time.

Nittur Rangaswamy, district convener of the Samiti, said that the central government’s stand in favour of the MP who had assaulted a 17-year-old girl was condemnable. The athletes who questioned them were also harassed by the police. The Modi-led government, which tried to retain the federation president, has failed to provide protection to the girl child.

It is condemnable that not only has women athletes taken to the streets to fight for justice, but our proud women athletes who protect the country’s honour in sports in the world have been sexually assaulted. He demanded strict action against the guilty.

He then submitted a memorandum to grade 2 tahsildar Shasikala.
Samiti Honorary President G.H. Jagannath, Taluk Convenor N.A. Nagaraju, Divisional Convenors Eshwaraiah, Arivesandra Krishnappa, Member RenukaPrasad, leaders Kodiyala Mahadevu, Nagaraju, Nagabhushana, Dalit Ganganna, Karethimmaiah and others were present.
