Bengaluru: Jani Chacko Uthup, the second husband of Indian pop icon and multilingual singer Usha Uthup, passed away due to a heart attack in Kolkata on Monday at the age of 78. He collapsed while watching TV at his residence and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he did not respond to treatment and succumbed.
The couple had two children – a son and a daughter. The family has announced that the funeral will take place today, June 9 (Tuesday).
Earlier this year, Usha Uthup was honored with the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award, for her significant contributions to the music industry. Known for her memorable Bollywood and Kannada songs such as “Ramba Ho,” “Hari Om Hari,” and “Koi Yahaan Nache Nache,” she remains an influential figure in Indian music.
