Bengaluru: Congress leader U. T. Khader on Monday March 14 claimed that protests and events relating to the hijab controversy, as well as ruling BJP leaders disturbing law and order, had dented the state’s image as an educational destination.
“Before holding the Global Investors Meet, I request that the government hold communal harmony conventions in every district across the State,” he said. Kader said that the death of a Bajrang Dal activist in Shivamogga and RDPR Minister K. S. Eshwarappa’s visit to the deceased’s family in violation of prohibitory orders led to the law and order situation.
He also mentioned that the government failed to resolve the controversy before it went to court. J. C. Madhu Swamy, Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs, said, “Do not try to tarnish the State’s image. Did we ask the petitioners to move the court?”
The violation of prohibitory orders by RDPR Minister Eshwarappa and Union Minister Bhagawant Khuba was a severe mistake, said Opposition leader Siddaramaiah. However, Madhu Swamy claimed that Siddaramaiah too disobeyed government orders during the Mekedatu padayatra.
