Vijayapura: Vijayapura District in the North Karnataka region recorded as many as 52 earthquakes in the last three years.
The shocking details were revealed by Revenue Minister R. Ashoka in the ongoing session of the State legislative council.
Replying to a question raised by the Sunil Gowda Patil of Congress, Ashoka stated that an increase in the underground water level and extreme rain events in this district are resulting in repeated tremors.
He also informed that experts have carried out a study in this region.
He also said that the awareness drive is being carried out by experts among the communities.
It can be recalled that in Vijayapura, people are repeatedly complaining about the tremors, especially at night time. The first work of P2C has begun.
