Bengaluru: Vijayapura police has confirmed that suspicious death of four months pregnant whose dead body was found with a slit throat, in Yalagura village near Almatti of the Nidagundi taluk of Vijayapura district, is a case of honour killing.
Police arrested three persons including the mother, brother-in-law and brother of the victim in connection with the murder.
According to the police, arrested include Shivalingamma (55), mother of the victim, Mallikarjuna Pujari (26), brother of the victim, and Ramesh (19), husband of the victim’s sister.
Renuka (22), four months pregnant was murdered in Yalagura village. Two years ago, Renuka married Shankara Nayak who is from another caste.
Police informed that victim’s mother, brother and brother-in-law arrived at her house following her request as she was pregnant.
“They seized the opportunity to murder her when her husband left for work. They first hit her head with a rod and killed her then by slitting her throat. They have confessed that the mother slit the throat of the daughter,” said police who are investigating the case.
