Bengaluru: Seven corporators of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) have joined hands with Greenpeace India to spread the message of segregating, composting and using the compost to grow food. The initiative is part of Greenpeace India’s ‘Waste To Food’ campaign. As part of the campaign, Garden City 2.0, a vertical garden, was installed in August. The garden had nearly 3,000 pots in which leafy vegetables like amaranthus, fenugreek and coriander were grown. On Saturday, the produce from the garden was harvested and used to make healthy smoothies.
The BBMP corporators who have joined the initiative are B.N. Nithish Purushotham (Garudacharpalya ward 82), S.G. Nagaraj (Vijnana Nagar ward 81), Nazima Khanam (K.R. Market ward 139), Latha Kuvar Rathod (Gandhi Nagar ward 94), Poornima Srinivas (K.R. Puram ward), Sampath Kumar(Vasant Nagar ward 93) and Mujahid Pasha (Sidhapura ward 144).
