Bengaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Tuesday, assured the state that there is no need for the imposition of night curfews as the government is “following all the guidelines”.
It can be recalled that a new mutated strain of the coronavirus was reported in the United Kingdom a few ago, after which the strain has been detected in other parts of the world.
“I came to know about a person who tested positive after arriving from the UK. We are also following all the guidelines. Whoever comes from the UK and other places will be checked at the airport. Our prime minister is also very much keen about the issue, there is no need for night curfew in the state,” ANI quoted the CM as saying.
Travel from Britain has been banned in India from December 22 to 31 in view of the spread of the new strain and passengers arriving from the country are being thoroughly scanned. The Karnataka Government has also ordered for the tracing of passengers who arrived from the UK from December 7 onwards.
Earlier, curbs in Bengaluru were announced for Christmas and New Year’s eve in anticipation of a possible second wave of COVID-19.
