Bengaluru: A unique protest by an NGO in Bengaluru against a pothole-ridden road immediately caught the attention of BBMP officials and the road was repaired on the same day.
What made the BBMP officials to act swiftly? It was an out of the box idea by an NGO named ‘Hasiry Mitra’ located near Cambridge School. The NGO along with the residents of HSR Layout area performed a ‘Pothole Pooja’ with an intention of drawing attention of the officials of BBMP on increasing potholes in the area.
The unusual protest by the public did alert the BBMP officials who in turn filled the crater and levelled the road. There are reportedly many such pothole-ridden roads in HSR Layout area and the NGO has submitted over 60 complaints to the BBMP, which has fallen on deaf ears.
Similarly, few months ago, local artists created a huge crocodile made up of fibre to highlight the pathetic road condition in the city, which made into headlines nationwide.
