Bengaluru: Amid protests by sugarcane growers, which has disrupted normal life across the North Karnataka region, the state government has decided to hold winter session of the state legislature in Suvarna Soudha of Belagavi between December 10 and 20.
A decision in this regard was taken during a meeting chaired by Basavaraja Horatti, in-charge chairman of the state legislative council at Suvarna Soudha of the Belagavi on Monday.
According to the sources, Horatti proposed the winter session between December 10 and 20 at the Suvarna Soudha for which KR Ramesh Kumar, speaker, state legislative assembly gave his approval.
“This proposal will be placed in the state cabinet meeting. After cabinet approval it will be sent to governor’s office for the approval,” informed an officer.
“Belagavi is the epic center of violent protests by the sugarcane growers. The state government may take a report from the police before approving these dates,” added an officer from the Chief Minister’s Office.
