Bengaluru: Yadagiri MLA Dr A B Malakareddy is all set to quit the Congress party. He is expected to resign from the MLA post after the ongoing winter session of the state assembly in Belagavi.
According to the Congress leaders privy to the developments, A B Malakareddy- who was minister in the S M Krishna led the state government between 1999 and 2004- was upset with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for not inducting him into the state cabinet. He is, allegedly, also upset with the CM for not honoring his demand of a Rs 500 grant for the Yadagiri district and the change of district in-charge minister. Presently Priyanka Kharge is the district incharge minister.
According to his close associates, A B Malakareddy is not interested in retiring from active politics. “He is the popular face in the Hyderbad-Karnataka region. He has invitations from both the BJP and the JD(S) parties. He is likely to join BJP,” the sources said.
