Sangolli Rayanna Brigade not meant to counter Yeddyurappa, say office bearers-1Eshwarappa said Yeddyurappa was against formation of Sangolli Rayanna Brigade but now he did not oppose it. “I want to make it clear that Sangolli Rayanna Brigade is not against Yeddyurappa. “I have discussed with Yeddyurappa and sorted out all issues. Yeddyurappa has agreed to my proposal of continuing my association with Sangolli Rayanna Brigade,” Eshwarappa said while talking to media persons.

He said the objective of Sangolli Rayanna Brigade was to ensure the success of around 40 legislators during the next Assembly elections. “I will not resign from BJP at any cost. I consider betraying BJP is like betraying my mother,” he said. He said the organizers of Sangolli Rayanna Brigade would decide whether or not invite Yeddyurappa to the proposed meeting to be held at Belagavi.

Commenting on JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy having a residence at Hubballi, he said that Kumaraswamy having a residence would neither a benefit to the JD(S) nor a loss to the BJP. “I wish Kumaraswamy all the best,” he said.

13 BJP MLAs to resign?

According to reliable sources, 13 BJP MLAs, including senior BJP leader Umesh Katti, have threatened to quit BJP and join JD(S) if the BJP leadership failed to take measures to dissolve the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade led by K S Eshwarappa.

The sources said the decision of 13 BJP MLAs, majority of them from North Karnataka, would become a problem for the BJP leadership if it fails to meet their demand. The sources said the 13 MLAs feel that existence of Sangolli Rayanna Brigade would create problems for BJP candidates in the next Assembly elections by dividing votes of other backward castes.

According to the sources, a prominent RSS leader, who is not in good terms with Yeddyurappa, was instrumental in the formation of Sangolli Rayanna Brigade.
