In a heartbreaking series of events, two farmers in Bidar district have reportedly died by suicide in separate incidents on Thursday. The first victim, Shivakumar Sanganabasappa, 38, from Kapalapur in Bidar taluk, is believed to have taken his own life in his fields. According to family sources, Shivakumar had incurred debts of ₹4 lakh from the DCC bank and is survived by his wife and two sons. The Janawad police have since registered a case related to his tragic death.
In a second incident, 65-year-old Subhash Maruti Hasgond from T Marjapur consumed poison on Wednesday night. He was rushed to the Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment but sadly succumbed to his condition on Thursday. The Bagadal police reported that Hasgond had taken loans to support his agricultural endeavors but struggled to repay them due to significant crop losses.
These incidents highlight the severe challenges faced by farmers, including financial pressures and the emotional toll of agricultural hardships. Local authorities are urged to take immediate action to provide support and resources for struggling farmers in the region.
