Mangaluru: Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kumar gave a call to implement wet waste management scientifically and effectively in Dakshina Kannada District under Swacch Bharath Mission.
Dr. Kumar was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Three-day advance module workshop’ at Netravathi hall, here on Friday August 27. The workshop was organised for the engineers under Panchayat Raj Engineering, Rural Drinking Water and MGNREGA Project for the effective implementation of wet waste management.
Regulated usage of grants under Swacch Bharath Mission, MGNREGA and 15th Finance Commission, if effectively utilised, then private toilets, solid waste, plastic waste, grey water and fecal waste management could be implemented effectively and thus ODF goals can be reached as soon as possible, he said. In all, Rs 29.26 crore has been sanctioned to manage grey wet waste, out of which 7.31 crore has been released. For management of black water under Gram Panchayats Golthamajal in Bantwal Taluk and Ujire of Belthangady Taluk, FSM unit is being established. In order to maintain the same, each person will get Rs. 230 under the grant, he added.
