Nanjangud: Chakravarthy Sulibele, the chief of Yuva Brigade, has called upon MPs to exhibit heightened sensitivity regarding the Cauvery issue and to actively support protests against the State Government.
Addressing the media at the Srikanteshwara Swamy Temple in Nanjangud city, He asserted that Cauvery water is a shared resource among Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that if adequate rainfall occurs, it will alleviate any issues related to water sharing.
Siddaramaiah released water preemptively, even before Tamil Nadu requested it, which is highly unfavorable. When Stalin assumed the role of Chief Minister, he personally contacted Rahul Gandhi and expressed his desire to forge a united front for India. This development is causing significant concern among the people of Karnataka.
Is it acceptable to simply leave the water overnight without informing anyone, essentially releasing it surreptitiously? Moreover, you’ve released a larger quantity of water than they had requested. Why are you now seeking the intervention of the Prime Minister in this situation?
Had there been no water release, the Prime Minister might have stepped in. The Members of Parliament should have initially voiced their opposition to the state government’s actions. It’s perplexing how the state government managed to release water without consulting the MPs. They had previously expressed intentions to pursue the Mekedatu project, but the matter appears to have been brushed aside now.
He remarked that the state was grappling with a severe lack of funds for any developmental initiatives, and even if there were continuous rains for the next five years, the region would still face drought conditions.
