BJP Halts Appointment of New Chikkaballapur District President Amid Allegations
On Monday, the BJP central leadership instructed state unit president B.Y. Vijayendra to put the appointment of B. Sandeep as the new district president of Chikkaballapur on hold, pending further information. BJP National General Secretary (Incharge Karnataka) Radha Mohan Das Agrawal, in a letter to Vijayendra, conveyed that the decision to appoint Sandeep should be paused as per the directive of BJP National President J.P. Nadda.
The letter further stated that Sandeep should not be allowed to assume his role as district president or vote in the upcoming State BJP president election. However, the elected state council members would still be eligible to vote in the election.
The controversy arose after BJP Chikkaballapur Lok Sabha member K. Sudhakar raised concerns, alleging that Vijayendra appointed real estate businessman Sandeep to safeguard his business interests in the district. Sudhakar also claimed that Sandeep had worked against him during the Lok Sabha elections. The former minister accused Vijayendra of appointing friends and business associates as district presidents to influence votes in his favor for the state presidential elections.
