Karwar: Members of a family rescued a child from a leopard in Bargi in Kumta Taluk of Uttar Kannada district on Saturday October 9.
It is said that a leopard entered the house of Narayana Naika of Bargi Village at 9.00 pm. The house was under renovation when the leopard tried to snatch one and a half-year-old child. But timely action by family members thwarted the leopard’s attempt.
Villagers said leopards are menacing in the village for three months as they face a shortage of food in the nearby forest. They urged the Forest Department to catch the leopard before it claims human lives. Range Forest Officer Naresh told that forest personnel have been deputed to watch the leopard. He said a cage will be placed to catch the leopard on Monday itself.
