Karwar: A banner was put up by the Administrative Committee of Sri Mahabaleshwar Temple in Gokarna banning people from wearing certain dresses was removed on Saturday November 12 after it stirred the controversy.
The dress code has been in place for tourists and devotees from across the country and abroad while entering the temple to have darshan of Lord Mahabaleshwara. Two days ago, the Administration had put up a banner in the area from the parking lot near chariot of the western gate of the temple, prohibiting people from wearing certain clothes.
However, there was strong opposition from the public to the new change in view of the fact that despite devotees on this route, those going to the beach and those going for normal work were also plying on the route. Following this, Sub-Divisional Officer Raghavendra Jagalasara visited Gokarna as per the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti and removed the banner put up on both the sides.
