Karwar: A worker’s shed was gutted in a cylinder explosion at Mudaga Labour Colony in the Taluk on Wednesday October 12.
More than 100 labourers from outside the State, including Orissa, were living in sheds in the colony for the construction of the naval base, where a large cylinder and two small cylinders in the sheds exploded. The intensity of the blast shattered the belongings and the mobile phones of more than 25 workers were gutted in fire.
The firemen rushed to the spot and carried out an operation to douse the fire. Fortunately, there was no loss of life. A case has been registered at Karwar Rural Police Station.
