Karwar: A driver attached to North West State Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) provides potable drinking water to all passengers travelling on his bus by footing expenses on his own.
Driver Kamalakar, attached to Sirsi depot, plying on Hangal-Sirsi-Panaji route has installed a 20 litre water container near his seat to enable all passengers to quench their thirst. Every time before the arduous journey begins, driver Kamalakar ensures he gets a fresh water refill to keep all passengers happy by footing all the costs on his own. He has made provision for the water container close to his seat to maintain cleanliness inside the bus.
His gesture has drawn wide appreciation from several passengers travelling on the route and they wish he continues with the good deed. In reality, he is offering a service which should have been provided by NWKRTC (Part of KSRTC), opined few passengers.
Many affluent and poor travel in my bus and most look out for drinking water during the arduous journey. Wish people benefit from my service as and when they feel thirsty, says Kamalakar.
