Tourists in Gokarna charmed by Hindu religion!

Karwar: The tourists visiting India from different parts of the globe often get smitten by its beauty, cultural and religious diversity.

Here in Gokarna, hundreds of foreigners charmed by its sheer beauty get attracted towards the Hindu religion as well. Most of the foreigners who flock the beautiful spot from different countries have been involving in Hindu religious practices.

In the recent years, several foreign tourists have adopted the religion and married the Hindu way across Karnataka. They also perform Havanas, Bhajans, meditate and worship Hindu Gods and Goddesses. They have also been performing Yoga to attain perfect body and mind.

Some of the foreigners here in Gokarna also perform shraadha and pitr tarpana, the death/funeral related rituals according to Hindu tradition.

In Bankikodla in Gokarna, a sanyasin of foreign origin (monk) Yoga Ratnakara performs Havana every Saturday, surprising the locals and other fellow Indian devotees. Another young foreign national named Sargei along with his friends, on a road leading to Gokarna beach has also been involved in performing religious activities like Bhajans and Yajna. He has also written about the importance of Yajna in Russian language and has been explaining it to his friends.

One often gets to listen and witness foreigners chanting “Om Namaha Shivaya”, “Om Ganeshaya Namaha” and “Shri Devi Bhagavati Namaha” infront of Hindu Gods and Goddesses in Gokarna testifying their devotion and commitment to Hinduism.

Several locals and foreigners visiting the holy place have been living in the temple by selling things needed for worship and prayers like fruits, flowers.

Foreigners who visit Gokarna as tourists often get smitten by the temple and the holy place and their active participation in religious practices has surprised the locals.
