According to the Karwar police, who have registered a case in this regard, the monk, who is serving at a Tibetian temple in Mundagod, approached them alleging that he was duped.

In his complaint, he alleged that a woman, who claimed that she works in the US Army, assured that she would transfer 2.5 million US dollars to his account for social work. A few days later, she informed him that a friend of hers is visiting India to give him the money. Later, she approached the monk again saying that she needs money to clear customs.
