Kasaragod: Police officers seized gold worth Rs 1 crore from a woman passenger at the Calicut International Airport.
The gold was seized from a passenger who arrived at the airport on an Air India Express flight from Dubai. The accused has been identified as Mariam Shahla Shehnaz (19), a native of Badiyadka.
According to sources, police officials launched an operation based on a credible tip that gold is being smuggled. The accused was intercepted and questioned while in an airport parking lot. She first refused to respond to the officials’ questions, but after a thorough investigation, police said they found the gold concealed in the undergarments.
Police informed that the gold paste weighed around 1.88 kg.
