Kasaragod: Man held for smuggling gold worth Rs 76L

Kasaragod: A man who arrived here by train was detained for smuggling gold.

The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammed Fahis (34), a resident of Citizen Nagar in Cherkala. He was arrested by the customs team after he arrived at Kasaragod station by train. During an inspection, a hidden gold weighing 1.300 kg was found in the electrical equipment’s motor in his bag. The confiscated gold is worth Rs. 76 lakh.

The accused was held based on a credible tip-off about gold smuggling.

The accused was arrested during an operation at the railway station by the Kasaragod Customs Unit team, which is led by Superintendent P. T. Rajeev.
