Kasaragod: Kasaragod Cyber Crime Police has arrested youth from Uttar Pradesh in connection with a cheating case and seized around Rs. 7 lakh from him that he got by duping a girl, whom he met through a social networking site.
The arrested youth has been identified as Mohammad Sharique (19), a resident of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.
He met a young woman from Maddur through a social networking site and extorted Rs. 7 lakh and Rs. 500 from her. According to the Police, the accused had cheated her several times by offering valuable gifts.
The accused was arrested at Singhhai Murwan of Uttar Pradesh, on the basis of a complaint alleging fraud.
The Police team under the leadership of Cyber Crime Station Inspector K. Prem Sadan, ASI Prem Rajan, Sawad Ashraf and Hari Prasad went to Uttar Pradesh on directions from Kasaragod District Superintendent of Police Dr. Vaibhav Saxena and arrested the accused.
