Kasaragod: Two people were convicted to life in jail by the Kasaragod District sessions court for the 2017 murder of a retired teacher.

According to sources, the convicted Puliannur, Chirikula resident Vishakh (27) and Arun (30)  have been ordered to pay a Rs. 1.25 lakh penalty, which will be given to the deceased’s kin.

The robbery happened on the night of December 13, 2017, when the youth barged into the home of Janaki Teacher (65). They were terrified she would recognise them as she had taught them, so they strangled her. Janaki’s husband, who had been alerted by her screams, was also assaulted by the accused.

During the investigation, the accused confessed to the crime. The court acquitted another accused, Rinish (28) due to a lack of evidence to prove his guilt.
