Kundapur: In a shocking incident, a student was stabbed on the college premises in Kundapura, on Thursday, an apparent result of an altercation that occurred at the college a few months ago. The victim is presently being treated at a private hospital in Kundapura.
Anoop Sherigar (17), a second-year arts student, has been identified as the victim. He is the son of Arun Sherigar, a resident of Uppinakudru.
The assailant has been identified as Yama alias Mithun.
It is learnt that Anoop, Pavan and some other students had gotten into a fight at the college a few months ago and a complaint in this regard was also filed with the Kundapura police.
Allegedly, Pavan and his group began to threaten Anoop after the altercation and it is reported that Pavan then asked his friend Mithun to kill Anoop. Mithun, after waiting for the right opportunity to carry out the request, got his chance on Thursday, when Anoop and his friends were entering the college. Mithun allegedly stabbed an unsuspecting Anoop and fled the scene.
A case was registered by the Kundapura police and Additional SP Kumaraswamy visited the crime scene.
