Mangaluru: Under the auspices of the Indian Psychiatry Society–Karnataka Chapter (IPSKC), a cricket tournament–Psychiatry Premier League (PPL) will be held on November 26 and 27 at NMPT Grounds, Panambur.
A total of eight teams of psychiatrists from all over Karnataka will be participating in this 2-day tournament. A friendly match between lady psychiatrists of Mangalore will also be held. IPSKC is also organising Zonal and National level tournaments in the month of December and January respectively.
This tournament will be conducted with a purpose of creating awareness and clearing the misconceptions related to mental illness and also to emphasise the role of physical activity in mental wellbeing. The awareness and importance of organ donation will also be highlighted in this tournament.
Inspector General of Police, Western Range, J Arun Chakravarthy, Mayor Harinath and cine star Anitha Bhat will be the chief guests for the inaugural function. Dr. Prasad Rao, President, Indian Psychiatric Society and Dr. Santhosh Soans, President Elect, Indian Academy of Pediatrics will preside over the valedictory function. Dr. Ajith Bhide, President Elect, Indian Psychiatric Society will be conducting a CME to the Psychiatrists on Nov 26 evening.
Psychiatry Premier League (PPL) is conducted under the guidance of Dr.Mahesh Gowda, President, IPSKC and Dr. Madhukar, Chief Psychiatrist, Kadabams, Bangalore.
Dr. P K Kiran Kumar, Professor of Psychiatry, A J Institute of Medical Sciences will lead the event PPL 3 in Mangalore.
