2011 murder attempt case: Bannanje Raja remanded to five-day judicial custody

Mangaluru: Underworld don Bannanje Raja was produced in a court in Mangaluru on Wednesday December 30, in connection to the 2011 Suresh Bhandary attempt to murder case. He was then remanded to judicial custody for five days.

 

On May 26, 2011, few associates of the Bannanje Raja had allegedly attempted to murder Suresh Bhandari – the proprietor of Prithvi Developers near Kadri here. The police had arrested four namely Devdas Shetty, Vinod Kulal, Amit Srivastav and Hussain. Three others who allegedly supplied weapons to them were also arrested. Also, a body warrant was issued against Bannanje Raja. Hence, he was brought to Mangaluru court today from Belgaum jail.
Renowned criminal lawyer PP Hegde fights this case on behalf of Bannanje Raja. He was today represented in the court by advocate Rajesh Amtady.

Raja who had been on the run for 18 years before his arrest in Morocco in February this year, was brought to New Delhi on August 14 and is now being tried in various courts in the country on several cases.
