Mangaluru: 36th annual flood-lit Vijaya – Vikrama Jodukare Kambala being organised at Kuteelu on the banks of River Netravati in Uppinangady of the Dakshina Kannada District was opened on Saturday April 2. As many as 150 pairs of buffaloes are in the fray in this Kambala. Before inauguration of Kambala, the special offerings were made at Sahasralingeshwara Mahakali Temple in Uppinangady, and later a procession was held from temple to Kambala venue.
In the procession buffaloes, and folk dance artistes were the main attraction. The owners of the buffaloes, Kambala Committee officials, and Kambala fans too were present.
Sahasralingeshwara Temple Committe Chairman Karunakar Suvarna inaugurated the Kambala by lighting the lamp.
The Kambala being held under leadership of Ashok Rai Kodambady has been appreciated from every quarters.
