Puttur: The Uppinangady police, on December 23, scored a major bust when they seized 80kgs of ganja, that was being transported late at night, in a car. The perptrators however, eluded capture and managed to give the cops the slip. The ganja seized is valued at Rs 6 lakhs.
The police stopped the car, a Honda City, at Addehole in the Shiradi Ghats, based on a credible tip, following which they began their inspection of the vehicle. Taking their window of opportunity, the occupants of the car made a run for it, out into the woods and managed to elude capture.
The said car was travelling from Mangaluru to Bengaluru when it was stopped.
The police have registered a case and are on the look out for the perpetrators.
