ABVP agitates over lack of basic amenities in Govt College

Mangaluru: Students in collaboration with Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) gathered outside the Karnataka Polytechnic (KPT), Basaveshwara circle demanding better facilities related to education and hostel in the government colleges.

ABVP activists claimed that due to lack of basic facilities the in the governmental colleges the educations of several students are been effected.

Slashing the state government, the protestors said that the government is only concentrating on SC/ST students and working towards exempting their fees and providing scholarships for them, wherein deserving students are suffering.

They also demanded that the hostels should be transformed into clean places and special grants should be released for their development and the number of hostels should be increased.

Some of the activists said that private colleges are not affordable as they have turned in to money-making ventures where as on the other hand the government colleges lack amenities. “what are the students suppose to do”, one of the protesting students questioned?
