Mangaluru: Former Group Editor of Spearhead Media Group Srinivasa Pejathaya has been deputed to Spearhead Academy and appointed its Principal. Spearhead Media Group Mentor and Advisor CA Valerian Dalmaida handed over the responsibility to Pejathaya.

Moving from success to success with passion has been his strength. His acumen to align his vision with that of his profession or organisation has set him apart from the rest. His passion for communication strategies has proven beneficial to the people and organisations he has associated with. He has 12 years of experience in varied fields spanning print and online media, academics, and research, video productions, corporate relations, branding, advertising, and communications consultancy. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in the area of Health Communication at Kuvempu University, Shivamogga.
He is one of the Founding Trustees at Village TV Trust and Arunya Foundation. He has also been serving as an Executive Committee Member of the PRCI Mangaluru Chapter.
A passionate researcher and writer, Pejathaya has also contributed to various journals and publications. It is noteworthy that one of his publications is a syllabus chapter on new media for BBA students at Mangalore University. His contributions are documented in a kids’ workbook series ‘Know Your Star Book of Possibilities’ by Tarkeybein Education Foundation.
About Spearhead Academy
Spearhead Academy is a Media Learning Centre established by the Village TV Trust (R) that focuses on empowering rural youth and providing them with meaningful livelihood opportunities through innovations in the converging media space. Spearhead Academy’s role in the Educational Eco-System of India and Karnataka, derives from the objectives of its parent Trust. Spearhead Academy’s prime objectives are to establish, maintain, support, assist and guide learning centres of media and related areas including journalism, video editing, and nano studios in villages across the length and breadth of India; to support, assist, guide, train and facilitate the highest learning in these faculties; and to provide scholarship, free ships, awards, and recognition to any student of person/body in the field of media and village development.
The Academy now proposes to provide both short-term certification-based value-add courses in the media space, and a university undergraduate Honours Degree BSc (Applied Media Sciences) under the aegis of Mangalore University, (affiliation process is in progress), to both rural and urban youth with a bias toward the former. The programme’s syllabus is tailored to the NEP and provides annual exit options with adequate skills and knowledge provided for thereunder. The Academy has a vision to create media professionals and entrepreneurs who can function independently, responsibly, and ethically in the modern converged media space. The Academy is established to bring in the concept of a media village with various popular media courses under an environment which is eco-friendly.
In its initial phase, it will operate from leased premises at the Sandesha Foundation for Culture and Education (SFCE), Bajjodi, Nanthoor, Mangaluru.
