Agonised Amasebailu ASI ends life

Udupi : An ASI from Amasebailu police station committed suicide, reportedly due to personal reasons as well as health issues by hanging himself on the evening of Monday March 31.

The deceased has been identified as 59-year-old Ramesh Shetty Naik.

On Monday evening, he went for a bath and hanged himself from the bathroom roof using a cloth. When he did not emerge from the bathroom for a long time, his mother checked and found him hanging.

He was immediately rushed to AV Baliga Memorial hospital in Doddanagudde after which was taken to KMC hospital, Manipal. He was declared brought dead.

Naik was promoted as an ASI in the year 1981 and has been in service for a long time.

After the post-mortem his body was taken to Chandu Maidan for the Guard of Honor. Later, it will be taken to Mangalore, his hometown.

Ramesh Shetty Naik is survived by his wife and two kids. He used to stay at the police quarters at Doddana Gudde.
