Mangaluru: It is learnt that the two among the 38 convicted recently by a special court in 2008 Ahmedabad serial blast case are from Mangaluru.
The two are identified as Syed Mohammed Naushad (30), resident of Subhash Nagar near Pandeshwar, and Ahmed Bava Abubaker B. (38) from Haleangadi.
The special court sentenced Naushad to life imprisonment whereas Ahmed Bava has been handed out capital punishment for their crime.
The police investigation revealed that they had transported the explosives from Udupi to Surat, then assembled the bombs too. Following this, they allegedly placed them at various locations in Surat and Ahmedabad. Later, they fled to Pune by train. The car abandoned by them led to their identification.
