Mangaluru: The residents of Adyar, along with BJP Yuva Morcha staged a silent protest on Monday October 5, in front of Pandeshwar police station demanding justice in the alleged murder case of 18-year-old Akshata who was found dead under mysterious circumstances on September 24.

Adyarprotest 1One of the residents slammed the police department for their inefficiency in solving the cases. “This shows the shortcomings of the police department,” he added.

In Akshata’s case, the police still havent’ been unable to trace Madan, who has been absconding ever since the incident and is the prime accused in the case.

However, the police inspector spoke to the protestors and explained that the case has been registered under URD, and there were no signs of murder. He said that the case is closed stating that it was a matter of suicide.

Reacting to this statement, protestors threatened that if no action is taken within the next one month, they will hold a bandh and a protest on the national highway.

It may be recalled that Akshata (18), a second year BCom student from a college in Car Street, went missing on September 21, 2013, and her body was found on the banks of a river at Bolar three days later, on September 24.
