Mangaluru: The Addiction Recovery Coach Online (ARCO) and the Ecolink Alumni Association will launch an online therapy platform for Women in Recovery on March 8 which is observed as International Women’s Day.

The Women in Recovery, known as ‘WinR’ will be launched by the Director of the Global Center for Credentialing and Certification (GCCC) Becky Vaughn from the United States through a zoom conference at 6.30 pm.

This online therapy platform is developed to help women affected by alcohol, tobacco or other psychoactive substances and related issues in a discreet and confidential setting by trained female therapists. The programme has all the components of an evidence-based primary treatment setting including screening and assessment, individualised treatment planning, home-based detox, case management and 12 step recovery coaching.

Substance use among women is on the increase globally and there is an acute shortage of treatment facilities designed exclusively for women. Women require a specialised treatment plan with more confidentiality and an empathetic environment because they face greater social stigma.

The services will be available at ARCOTHERAPY.COM. Women can get in touch with female therapists and choose between a Primary Treatment Package with Therapy or a Recovery Coaching Package. The services include individual counselling, psychological therapy, psychiatric consultation, psycho-education, group therapy and initiation to 12 step programmes online.

The programme is handled by women psychologists and therapists who are trained by Ecolink Institute in Universal Treatment Curriculum on SUD, a syllabus promoted by the Colombo Plan, UNODC, WHO and collaborating partners around the globe.

Ecolink Institute is an approved Training Provider with eminent global trainers like Dr. Thirumagal V, Aditi Ghanekar, Dr. Damber Nirola, Francis Moothedan, Dr. Thomas Scaria and Reshma Malick. ARCO-India is the therapy wing of the Ecolink Institute.

The women trainers will be honoured on the occasion. Besides them, Nandita Kapoor, alumni of the institute and a winner of 7 gold medals in the recent Indo-Sri Lankan Aquatic championship will also be honoured as an outstanding woman of the year.
