Around 1,000 people get vaccinated at St Agnes College, Mangaluru

Mangaluru: On Tuesday, St Agnes College, Mangaluru held a vaccination drive for its staff and students. Altogether 1000 students, teaching and administrative staff had registered for the vaccination drive.

Speaking at the inaugural, Sr Dr Venissa AC, Principal, St Agnes College said that COVID19 has ushered us into a strange time. “COVID19 has challenged us and turned us into new human beings, but we have to overcome our fear and cooperate with the government and health authorities in curbing Covid 19,” she said.

The event was flagged off at Mother Mary Aloysia Memorial Block at St Agnes College. The staff- in-charge collected signatures, IDs and assisted the participants to sign up on the government COWIN Portal or Aarogya setup App before receiving the jab.

In the run-up to the drive, the students were asked to fill in their details in Google Forms and sign up for the vaccination. The attendees were requested to bring valid ID cards including college ID and Aadhar Card.

The vaccination centre was visited by Mangalore South MLA Vedavyaas Kamath. MCC councillor and Bendoor ward Corporator Naveen  D’souza who was present at the event said that people must extend support to the health workers who are dedicatedly working towards the eradication of COVID19.

The District Health & Family Welfare of Dakshina Kannada started a 15 days vaccination drive on Monday across various colleges. Several educational institutions are hosting these free vaccination drives where students aged 18 and above can get vaccinated along with the staff members of the college.

At St. Agnes College, the UPHC officials from Bejai oversaw the drive and facilitated social distancing, registration, and smooth conduction of the drive.

Kadri Ward Corporator Manohar Shetty, Sr. Carmelita AC, Associate Professor Helen Serrao, and Overall In Charge of the vaccination drive Dr Udaya Kumar were present at the occasion.
